Pandit Sivaramakrishnan (1968-2024)

Pandit Sivaramakrishnan’s training began at H.H. Sri Kanchi Kamakoti Shri Mahaswami Vidya Peetha Trust at Sivasthanam in Thenambakkam, Kanchipuram at a young age. He continued higher level training at Thiruvidaimarthur Prayoga Pathasala attached to the Kanchi Sankara Mutt. His advanced training continued in Mylapore under Rajam Vadhyar, with additional training in Karnataka and Maharashtra. His journey to the United States began with him seeking permission from the then pontiff of Kanchi Kamakoti Peetham, Sri Chandrasekhara Saraswathi, to pursue being a Hindu priest overseas in the United States. In 1992, he was a priest of the Shiva Complex of the Malibu Hindu Temple in Malibu, California. He then became chief priest of Sanatan Dharma Temple in Norwalk, California. In addition conducting ceremonies throughout the United States, he also taught Vedic chanting to hundreds of students of various age groups. He also advised Veda Circle under the title of Veda Acharya and has advised a number of organizations and temples in North America. Above all, he was a devoted singer of bhajans, growing up listening to Seergazhi Govindarajan, who carries the namesake of the town he grew up in.
